College-bound students are encouraged to take both the SAT and the ACT college admission tests.  What is the difference between these tests, and why should students take both?

The SAT comes from the College Board, and the ACT comes from American College Testing.  The tests are structured differently, but are equally acceptable by virtually all colleges and universities.  The tests cover:

SAT
Critical Reading                        
Math                                    
Writing                         
                                        
ACT
English
Math
Reading
Science
Writing (optional)
